At BAS Publishing, one of our main goals is to provide good solos, solos of the standard repertoire, with band accompaniment. This allows both outstanding soloists to be featured at both the high school or college level.
In 2001 we added our first double reed solo, the Telemann Sonata in a minor for oboe. We arranged it for band and oboe using the oboe and the figured bass parts. While recording this piece at “The Lodge” recording studio in Indianapolis I met oboe player Monte Bedford. I told him about my idea to also do an arrangement of the Marcello Concerto in c minor/d minor for oboe and band. He was a great help on this project and did the oboe editing.
Our third double reed project, the first movement of the Mozart Concerto for Bassoon in B flat Major, is now finished, recorded, and ready to be released in June 2004.
