Jim Sewrey is in his 30th year as a percussionist with the Waukesha Area Symphonic Band (WASB), and as the chairman of the scholarship committee for the Woody Herman-Sister Fabian Scholarship Fun – the Greater Milwaukee Foundation. In 2006, Jim was the recipient of the Milwaukee Civic Association’s LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD. Mr. Sewrey is a pro-active percussion educator, and guest conductor of concert/symphonic band and percussion ensembles. As an instrumental music educator, he has taught general music, grade and senior high school bands and orchestras, and at the collegiate level, applied percussion, band methods and percussion ensembles for undergraduate and graduate students. Mr. Sewrey is a charter member of the American School Band Directors Association (ASBDA) and the author/founding member of the Percussive Arts Society (PAS). Throughout his professional career, he has served as an adjudicator, clinician, workshop director, and guest conductor of the band and percussion ensembles at various nationally known summer music camps, state/national conventions/conferences, and at band and percussion association venues. He continues to be involved in various educational arenas.
